Anne’s History

My name is Anne Dyer, owner of Casita Montaña and the Plaza Montaña. After caring for patients going throught cosmetic surgery, i felt it was my time. I not only wanted to look better, but to understand and be able to explain what the surgery entailed. I had a full facelift and found the procedure to be very simple and pain free. I had a very little swelling and bruising. The third day after surgery, I walked my little dogs on the lake and worked in my office. Other than my energy being low for a week or so, I felt great.
We have two very qualified and board certified cosmetic surgeons available for consultations on Monday and Wenesday, from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m.
Surgeries are performed in Guadalajara. For an appointment or more information about the doctors or the pre and post-care we provide here in Casita Montaña B&B, please call 766-5513, or stop by and see our facility. I will be happy to meet and explain everything.
We also recomend after surgery, a good facial during the healing
period (first 2 to 3 weeks). With your new look, try a new hairstyle, maybe a new hair color and updating your make-up.
We are presently adding an upscale beauty shop and day spa to provide all services – hair, nails, massages and wake-up. We plan to open the shop and spa in August. We will be providing more information soon.

At ladies´ luncheon, I met Anne Dyer, owner of Casita Montana B&B. As usual with ladies, vanity and how we look loomed its ugly head. Anne agreed I had some premature aging around my eyes and suggested I consult with Dr. Victor Ledezma, who is very well known for his expertise in cosmetic surgery. Anne set up the appointment with Dr. Ledezma, the arranged all my pre-operative health checkups. I did nothing but go the scheduled appointments – they were all arranged for me.
Surgery was scheduled. The day before, I checked in the B&B where I had a wonderful massage and a hypnosis session which both totally relaxed me and gave me the required confidence that I was in good hands with profesional people. Iwas relieved of most of the “pre-operative jitters.” A nice dinner was served, and I was off to bed.
The next day, we went to Guadalajara for the surgery. I cannot express how wonderful the surgeon was! The personal attention given me was awesome. I felt the doctor was my best friend; where else in the world would a surgeon bring you breakfast? The tender-loving care didn´t end there. Gladys, Anne´s assistant, stayed overnight in the hospital with me.
The next day I was driven back to the B&B where I stayed for a couple of days, What a wonderful few days that was – the peace and tranquillity I felt, the good food, attention, and tender-loving care I received.
My family and friends here in Canada think I look terrific and I have to say, when I look in the mirror, I smile to myself. thank you Anne for providing me with the opportunity to cash in on a big lift in my self esteem.
My Cosmetic Surgery Took Years Off my Appearance and Saved Me From Cancer

Having surgery was pretty much a spontaneous decision. I had had a consultation in Canada in 1991 and even back then the cost for a facelift was $10,000.
We were on holiday in Ajijic and I noticed a story in the local magazine by Danne Dyer of Casita Montana about cosmetic surgery. I talked to other women who had had cosmetic surgery there and they were pleased. I did a bit of online research too. I made my decision to see Dr. Ben (Villaran) based on the feedback I had from three of his former patients.
My sisters were horrified that I was thinking of getting work done in Mexico. My daughter who is director of a hospital near Toronto had been encouraging me for a while. I spent a lot of time in the sun and at 69 I looked older than other people in my age bracket – and older than my sister who is 79. I had deep wrinkles around my neck.
When I went for the consultation Dr. Ben noticed an irritated spot on my shin. I had had it for about a month. It was raised and rough and had come up quickly. He said, “Why didn’t you mention this?” I said I thought it was not his department. He said, “Now we look at everything.” He said he would look after it.
Dr. Ben was personable, reassuring, caring and very genuine. My sister who came with me noticed too. She said “This man is very genuine.”
In North America you do not find that. The surgeons are very intimidating – even arrogant. There are great doctors in Mexico. I had my dental work done there too. There are great board certified plastic surgeons in Mexico!
I had a neck lift plastic surgery, upper and lower eyelid plastic surgery and a forehead lift. It was six and half hours in surgery in all. I looked scary with all the bandages but there hardly any bruising and within a couple of weeks after surgery you would never have known what I had done. The only discomfort was with the cuts in the hairline for the forehead lift.
During the surgery Dr. Ben also removed the spot on my shin with some of the underlying tissue. It was a little over an inch across. He grafted skin taken from my face to cover the opening on my leg. The biopsy showed it was cancer but Dr. Ben said he got it all.
The cosmetic surgery linic was excellent. My husband was able to stay over with me. We had a private room, TV, our own bathroom and a bed for my husband. I do think you need someone if you come down on your own and that’s why Anne at Casita Montana provides plastic surgery recovery services, which includes a licensed nurse.
For the first week after the surgery Dr. Ben called me every day to see how I was doing. He took the stitches out himself.
I also went on a diet lost 26 pounds during the six months we were in Ajijic. When we returned home in April, our neighbour said, “Oh you look good!”
I look well rested and my neck is tighter and my eyelids are no longer droopy. My daughter says I look great – much brighter.
My advice to others contemplating cosmetic surgery in Mexico? You have to have faith in your surgeon. Talk to other people about their experience. And make sure your surgeon speaks English. You have to be able to communicate. Also, make sure you allow time to heal. It’s foolhardy to plan to return home immediately.
And as my daughter pointed out, a plus is that the surgery is done in sterile clinics, not hospitals where there is more chance of infection.
I think you will find that any work you have done in Guadalajara is superior to North America. The doctors are well trained. I am very satisfied. In fact I will be going back for some minor touch ups.

A few years ago I was involved in an accident that resulted in the loss of my eye. I had plastic surgery in Beverly Hills, California, by a very expensive, highly recommended surgeon. I was very disappointed in the outcome.
Recently I found Dr. Ben Villaran through Anne Dyer at Casita Montana and had a second surgery. I recommend him to be the very best and the cost was significantly less.
Thank you Anne and Dr. Ben.

Last year I decided to have a mini facelift procedure. Because I was a sun worshiper for many years, my face was in need of some special attention.
I met Anne Dyer of Casita Montana when we spent time in Ajijic, Mexico. Our permanent home is in Canada
Anne explained everything to me about the procedure and arranged an appointment with Dr. Manuel Jimenez, the cosmetic surgeon. She took charge of setting everything up for me including appointments with the doctor and the clinic. Anne also took care of all my pre and post operative care. It made everything so easy and simple. Her price included all transportation to and from the clinic, the nurse’s care, food and medicine.
I can’t make enough good comments about my cosmetic surgeon, the clinic, or the care and kindness I received at Casita Montana. I am very happy with the outcome of my surgery and recommend Dr. Jimenez and Casita Montana to everyone.

Returning – with Friends!
A friend in Ajijic put me touch with Anne Dyer at Casita Montana. I had been considering some cosmetic surgery and what more perfect place to heal and relax, than Ajijic. I never expected to be nurtured, fed, massaged, relaxed and cared for as I was at Casita Montana.
The moment I stepped off the plane, New York to Dallas to Guadalajara, I spotted Anne, smiling, holding a sign with my name on it. I immediately felt I had made a good decision to travel this distance for a doctor, and surgery.
Anne arranged every detail: consultations with two very experienced surgeons; being accompanied to and from surgery at a lovely clinic in Guadalajara, all with ease and so much nurturing.
The day before surgery was preparation: lots of healthy fluids, a full body massage, hypnosis to relax me ever more. I slept soundly, without anxiety.
The morning of surgery, I felt calm and secure. Anne was up, made sure I was too and we made the trip to the clinic. My doctor was there to greet me and prepare me for my procedure. He listened carefully to everything I said. I did not want to look 40 again, just better – and natural. I had lots of sun damage. In New York cosmetic surgery is more radical looking – the emphasis is on looking fashionable. I had lots of sun damage.
Everything went smoothly and also painlessly. Anne was waiting for me after the surgery to make sure that all went well. My doctor visited me three times during my one day stay at the clinic.
The journey back to Casita Montana with Anne was comfortable. I was put to rest with ice packs, medication and lots of arnica tea.
One week later, as I write this, I look refreshed and naturally smoother.
My only regret is leaving Casita Montana (home away from home), Anne and Ajijic. I am returning as soon as I can. I’ll bring some New York friends with me too! They can’t wait.

Wonderful Doctor Gave Me a New Chin
I told a friend that since God didn’t give me a chin I was going to get the doctor to do it.
Seriously, I have been thinking about this for more than 20 years. Don’t ask why I put it off because I didn’t have an answer, but now I wish I had done it sooner.
Anne introduced me to Dr. Jimenez who has a great bedside manner. I really liked the fact that he had no problem with all my questions or the fact that I had done a lot of research. There are doctors that are intimidated by patients who have done research or have some knowledge of what they want. Dr. Jimenez is not one of them. He has confidence to go with his skills. He answered all my questions and put me at ease.
I am so pleased with the results and the new chin he gave me.

Dr. Don and Gloria provide a wide variety of dental services to Lakeside residents. Dr. Alberto Don Olivera enjoys treating the Lakeside expatriates who comprise 95% of his client base.
Like many people, I hate going to the dentist. When I retired to Lake Chapala I thought I decided I might not ever go to a dentist again. You know…no pain, no worry, no plan.
I researched other health care, but finding a dentist took a back seat. When I signed up at a local clinic for medical services, I noticed rooms with dental equipment. Some day, I thought, I’ll check it out. “Some day” happened the following week, as toothache pain jolted it to the front of the line.
Dr. Alberto Don Olivera saw me immediately. X-rays showed that my highly paid, US dentist didn’t extract the entire root of a tooth on which he’d performed a root canal years before. These small, festering pieces brewed a low-grade infection that spread to the jaw bone—serious stuff needing urgent attention. I had hoped my first experience with Mexican dental care would be a simple cleaning or an innocuous cavity, but major work, extractions and porcelain crowns loomed. I didn’t know which to fear more—the pain in my mouth or the pain in my wallet.
After a few days on antibiotics, I returned, my face pale, dreading the procedure. Dr. Don greeted me with a warm hug and wonderful English. Sensing my nervousness, he went next door to the Pharmacy and returned with a Xanax. He assured me that half a tablet would take the edge off. Sure enough, in 15 minutes.
The affected teeth were extracted, the infection scraped away and the temporary crowns placed. I never felt a thing, during or after. Dr. Don advertises painless dentistry. I didn’t believe it, but I do now.
Within a week, he inserted the permanent hardware and the good news kept coming. In the states, one crown costs around $1000 US.
Dr. Don did three extractions for $1,650 pesos, five porcelain crowns for $16,500 pesos, three x-rays for $300 pesos, two fillings for $1,200 pesos and a cleaning for $250 pesos or $19,900 pesos for the whole job. With a 10% discount for being a Lake Chapala Society member, the bill came to $17,910 pesos ($1,790 US). He threw in the Xanex for his sanity and my comfort.
These were 2007 prices, but even with our small inflationary increases and individual variances, dental work at Lakeside remains a bargain. The price tag for this same work back home would easily have reached $6,000. We were so impressed by the painless dental work and by the great pricing, we went back for more. My husband’s smile now shows off 22 porcelain crowns and I went for eight more.
We remind our visitors before they come, “If you need any dental work, wait until you come and have it done here.” With this experience as a guiding force, I decided to interview a sampling of Lakeside dentists. I also wondered how many people actually arrange the unlikely combination of dental work with vacation.
